Weekly Trending – 12th week

During the 3rd week of march there were many things around the world had changed. The biggest news in the week was the Suez canal incident.

One of the largest container ships in the world was stuck in the Suez canal last 23rd March due to strong winds. The ship was able to float on 29th March after 6 days. Fuel and nine thousand tonnes of ballast water were removed from the ship to help lighten it as an excavator was digging a part of the bank in order to free the bow of the ship. The Suez canal is one of the busiest canals in the world. Because of this incident several ships were delayed causing an impact on the global economy.

The Cherry Blossom in Japan

The Cherry blossoms in Japan is a breathtaking view and a global tourist attraction. In the last 26th the cherry blossoms in the season peaked since its earliest records 1200 years ago. The first records goes back to 812 AD and the previous record was set in 1409. Scientist believe that the early flowering during the recent decades increased due to climate changes.

Bloody Shoes

The popular shoe brand Nike had decided to sue MSCHF, the company behind the viral satan shoes that contains a real human blood. The shoes were introduced as a collaboration with the American rapper Lil Nas X.

Fires in Indonesia

A huge fire broke out at the Balongan refinery, run by state oil firm Pertamina, at 00:45 local time on Monday (17:45 GMT Sunday). Reports say about 5 people were injured and more than 900 people were evacuated to safety. The reason for the fire was not yet identified.

Internet speed and Facebook

The social media company had invested in two new subsea cables to boost capacity for growth in the Asia Pacific region. The company had announced that they will work with Singaporean and Indonesian developers. The new cables will help bring more Asia Pacific residents online, while also facilitating the expansion of 5G connectivity. That will connect more people and businesses to better internet service, while it’ll also help Facebook expand its operations in these emerging markets
