Evolution of Miss World Crowns


Miss World is known to be the oldest running international beauty pageant. It was started in 1951 by Eric Morley, a British television host. The pageant is one of the main international pageants. Each year since its start in 1951 Miss World had been discovering beauty all around the world and not only the beauty is discovered but also the talent is awarded with a stunning crown during the ceremony. Let’s see the evolution of Miss World crown through out the years.

Though the pageant was started in 1951 the crowning of the pageant winners were first started in 1955. Since then the crown used during the ceremony had been changed several times.

The crown used in 1955 was used two more times before changing into the second crown.

The second crown was used in 1958 and it was the only time it was used in the miss world history. But this crown is considered as one of the exquisite crowns ever used

The third crown was used in 1959 was also did not make a come back

So was the 4th crown, it was only used in 1960 pageant

The 5th crown was first used in 1961 and until 1969 the crown was not changed.

The crown was changed for the 6th time in 1970 pageant. This crown was nicknamed as Jester’s crown because of its design.

The Miss World crown was once again changed for the 7th time in 1972.

In 1973 pageant another new crown was used for the beauty queen. Which was used until only in the 1973 pageant.

So did the 1974 and 1975 pageant crown.

For the 1976 pageant the crown was changed for the 10th time and it was used in 1977 and 1978 pageants before its retirement.

In 1979 miss world pageant again the crown was changed but the organizers used the design of the crown that was used in 1972 pageant. And since then the beautiful crown that has estimated value of about $750,000 is used to crown the beauty queen.
